Gate City is a ladies interclub doubles competition between the tennis clubs in Greensboro area.  There are both day Gate City teams and evening summer Gate City teams — something for everyone to come out and play!

If you are not on a team and wish to play, please email tennis@sherwoodswimandracquet.com.  There are four divisions based on the USTA ratings of 2.5 – 4.5.

Day Gate City tennis … play begins the first week of April for the league and runs through early June.  In the fall, play begins in September through November.  Matches are played at various clubs beginning at 9:30 am.  The format is best of two sets with a 10 point tie break in the event of split sets.  Each week the teams include a field of 6 – 10 players on 3 or 5 courts depending on the division.

Evening Gate City tennis … The summer leagues begins shortly after the conclusion of the Spring season.

The Gate City Practices are designed to get all the players who play doubles at Sherwood to understand doubles movement and strategy from Division 1 thru division 3 so that whoever you are practicing with at Sherwood you will be on the same page with the fundamentals of Doubles Strategy. The price is $25 per clinic.

• Division 3 Practice TBA  (USTA Level 3.0-3.5)
• Division 2 Practice TBA (USTA Level 3.5-4.0)
• Division 1 Practice TBA (USTA Level 3.5-4.0-4.5)
